FIFA Rankings: Why Nigeria’s Victory Over Togo May Not Count
Goals from Ahmed Musa and Kelechi Iheanacho ensured the Super Eagles piled mysteries on Emmanuel Adebayor’s side in Paris as they prepare to play South Africa in an African Cup of Nations qualifier against South Africa on June 10.
However, the game may not be counted in their next FIFA rankings due to the number of substitutions made in the game. During the course of the match, Super Eagles boss, Gernot Rohr made nine changes as against the allowed six substitutions allowed in the standard international friendly matches.
Super Eagles former Media officer, Colin Udoh wrote on his social media handle: “That’s 9 substitutions by Rohr. That means this is no longer an A game. Won’t count much towards FIFA rankings #NGAT”
